Wirimu

wirimu_sp.JPG

Wirimu was bred purely to be used as emu oil. These precious animals are often exploited for our benefit and Wirimu was lucky enough to escape the same fate. He now resides in the sanctuary with another emu called Weemu. One of the cool things our Community Max Staff, and visiting children like about the Emu’s is the unique ‘bongo’ noise they make. The pair are very inquisitive and social and they also love to eat silverbeet and bread from your hands.
